Check this out...

You should see our beans!  They are growing really big now and we even have some flowers now.  We have been deciding whether we will actually have 'real' beans in our class.  Some children think we might need bees to make the flowers turn into beans.  I wonder if they are right?

Lewis and Poppy

Poppy was asleep when the tooth fairy came to take Lewis' tooth away.

Celeste and Poppy

Poppy came to the hot pools with me.  He sat on the edge and watched.

The Great Bean Race

Check out how our beans are growing - we are learning how to use a ruler to measure our beans growth.

Albatross Community Assembly

On Friday Room 19 attended their first Albatross Community assembly...we shared our beans that we are growing and measuring in our maths lessons.  Three Room 19 children received Principal's awards for their learning and wonderful attitudes - well done!  The other classes in our community also celebrated their successes with us.  What a great way to end our week!

Poppy Pukeko

Poppy was a popular addition to Room 19.  Today we welcomed Poppy and talked about where we thought Poppy might like to go for some adventures.  Already joining in with the maths activities and of course a photo opportunity with all of the children (except for Lewis and Mackenzie who are still on holiday).  Keep your eye on our blog for where the children take Poppy next....

Welcome to Term 4 .... and Poppy Pukeko!

Welcome back to Term 4. I hope you all had a fantastic holiday. This term we have an adventurer in our class - Poppy Pukeko - who has been holidaying with Mrs Lidgard.

Poppy will venture home with each child over the term and we will talk and write about Poppy's adventures; and of course capture the special moments digitally on camera or video and post them here on our blog! I'm sure Poppy will also enjoy joining in with all of the special learning fun we will be having!! So watch this space....you are going to be hearing and seeing a lot of Poppy and the Room 19 children over the next 10 weeks.

Term 3 - Powerful Learning

It has been a 'productive' term - excuse the pun! Our powerful learning has focussed on 'what makes a powerful performance'...

We have been working on our production roles and learning about being part of a wider, diverse community - being the whole school. This has been hugely beneficial for me as the classroom teacher; being able to see some of the children shine in the 'artist' role as dancers and singers and also having the opportunity to help those who find this area of the curriculum more challenging; flourish as they 'take a risk' and 'persevere'. Well done everyone - the performances next week will be fantastic and a credit to the children for their enthusiasm. I hope you all enjoy the show and see the children shine!

What makes a fantastic performance?

As we build up for our 'performance' in the school production "Time Traveller 3000" we are talking about and looking at what makes a fantastic performance.

Here are some of the ideas that we came up with today in our writing:

I am going to be Samoan. I need to listen. - Kandy
I am being sensible. - Zaymia
I am practising a dance. - Celeste
I am going to like being on stage. - Lexi
We are going to practice. - Ed
I am showing a happy face. - Keanu
We are on the stage. Lots of practice. - Jack
I am going to dance on the stage. - Jayden
I am learning the words. - Sarah
I am going to do what I am told. - Leah
I am listening so I know what to do. - Mackenzie
We keep going until the end. - Talia
I am on the stage. I am smiling. - Lewis
I am Samoan. I am learning the dance. - Zavier
I am on the stage. - Jaden

It will be great to see you all persevering to learn the words and your dance moves! Some of us will also need to 'take a risk' and be brave when it is our turn - But we can do it!! We are all in this together!

School Production Song - We're All In This Together

This video link has the words and music to the song "We're all in this together" that we are singing in the school production. Let's keep listening and learn the words so we sound FANTASTIC!

Heaviest and Lightest

We have been learning about heaviest and lightest in our Maths time. We had fun using the bathroom scales and making predictions about who would be the heaviest and the lightest in our class. The outcomes were surprising! Some people were even the same...we weren't expecting that!!!

Our Learning Adventure

Welcome to our class blog! We are some of the "little chicks" of Red Beach School and we are starting on a big learning adventure with our teacher Mrs Lidgard. On our blog you will see what we are learning about, some of our writing and artwork and some of the activities we do in our class to help make our learning fun! We look forward to hearing your comments and hope you enjoy sharing our learning with us.
